  • Once you’ve chosen your attorney, gathered your documents, and spoken to the attorney on the phone enough to feel comfortable, you’ll go meet that person. It’s not going to be fun.
  • Bring copies of your documents and other information with you. That way, you will save a couple of dollars right off the bat. Also, bring a written list of your questions.
  • Don’t expect to simply walk in, sit down and be able to speak calmly. That may not happen. You may be upset, or even cry. It’s a terribly emotional time for people. Most importantly, bring a good attitude. The first meeting can be horrific.
